Couple consultation
It’s important to choose the method of decision-making that will best fit your particular situation and the level of potential co-operation between you and your separating partner. You can request an individual or joint appointment to discuss this and make choices from there. If on your own, and a collaborative method seems possible, a balancing consultation can then be offered to the other party, From there a decision can be made whether you can be jointly or separately supported through a process of mediation or collaborative law; or indeed whether you will need to proceed to court. In the latter case, the avenue of choice might be out of your hands such as if the other party has or intends to litigate; or there may be good reasons for you yourself to proceed to court. It is wise to give very careful consideration before taking that crucial step, as conflict can escalate unnecessarily - with attendant very high cost both financially and relationally. |
Personal guidance
The option of individual personal guidance can make an important difference to how you manage the demands and challenges of the separation that lie ahead. This can happen through a single consultation or throughout your process of relationship-change. Separation is not a single event, but a process of negotiation and decision-making over time. The singular decision by one or both parties to separate is followed by many unfamiliar choices that need careful consideration for better outcomes; and expert personal guidance can help greatly. If communication between you and your partner has broken down, there may still be hope that litigation can be avoided. We can contact the other party on your behalf to request engagement in negotiation. |
