Aontas
2019
- drawing on more than 20 years experience -
Under the Directorship of Brian Smith, chartered psychologist, family therapist, family mediator and personal consultant & child specialist in collaborative family law, Aontas provides a comprehensive range of specialist services to couples and families where there is relationship breakdown, as well as to family law solicitors and the courts. Where separation is occurring, services include non-adversarial, pre-court and non-court options, pre-separation consultation, mediation, personal guidance in collaborative family law, and post-separation counselling and family therapy. In cases of non-agreement about post-separation parenting arrangements a service is available to provide expert court-mandated child custody assessment reports. Where the couple or one of the parties is unsure about making a the decision either to separate or try to restore the relationship, this question can be explored in the first instance to help decide the best way forward. Couple therapy is offered if there is a desire and a will for reconciliation.

Ethos
The name "Aontas" means "unity" or "integration".  It reflects our underlying ethos of minimising conflict in the separation, and enabling the parties to reach sustainable agreements on all matters regarding the family's future security and wellbeing. We are committed to upholding the best interests of children in their post-separation care  and in their relatnonships with each of their parents.
Aim
Our aim is to assist the parties to take care of their own needs while respecting the needs of the other. Where children are involved, parents are supported in keeping the "best interests" principle to the fore as their first responsibility.

Making these decisions can of course be difficult in the midst of hurt, anger or disappointment - often associated with relationship breakdown. The right kind of professional guidance is essential for the best possible outcome.
