Mediation: Can be arranged by both parties contacting the service to request an appointment.
Collaboration: One or both parties can request an initial appointment. There is a choice for each party to engage a family therapist or one family therapist for the couple. This choice should be informed by whether both parties separately feel able to negotiate or require separate personal support through the process. Collaborative solicitors if required can be engaged at any point, and the legal work, psychological support and parenting plan can proceed in a complementary way. There is also scope for children’s voices to be included. |
Litigation: If a Section 32/47 assessment is required for court (litigation), both parties will need to attend for an initial session, either separately or (preferably) together, to establish the parameters of the case. This is followed by a written summary by the assessor as a basis for proceeding to the substantive assessment. To arrange a S32 or S47 assessment, the Principal Brian Smith can be contacted either by the parties or their solicitors, or directly by a court. An information leaflet is available on request.
